About West Volusia Audubon

West Volusia Audubon represents the western area of Volusia County, Florida, and aims to foster a community of birders and nature lovers in the Central Florida area.

Our chapter hosts numerous hikes in West Volusia and in the greater Central Florida region, a monthly speaker series, and many more programs and events throughout the year.

Central Florida is a rich birding area, and West Volusia is no exception. From the famous Blue Spring in Orange City – a birding hotspot in its own right but world renowned for its manatees – to the stunning Lake Woodruff, there are plenty of birds to see right here at home. WVA also has a special relationship with the Lyonia Environmental Center and Lyonia Preserve in Deltona, Florida. One of WVA’s special projects is the Friends of Lyonia, which provides volunteers, financial support, and much more for this very special place.

Our Mission Statement:

Recognizing that a thriving local ecosystem is essential to the health and mental well-being of all our residents, we endeavor to promote and maintain programs and activities which bring all community constituencies into a personal and knowledge-based relationship with the natural world for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s ecological diversity.
