Birding Club

If you’re just thinking about getting into birding as a hobby, looking to make friends that share a love of nature or just wanting a reason to grab your camera and capture some beautiful bird photos, the West Volusia Audubon Birding Club is for you!

The absolute best way to follow all of our events is by joining our Mailing List, but our outings are also available on Eventbrite and Meetup! We also announce events on Facebook and Instagram.

Birding Club Outings

The WVA Birding Club organizes frequent outings to popular birding sites in the Central Florida area, led by birder extraordinaire and West Volusia Audubon Board Member Eli Schaperow. These trips include places like Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, Orlando Wetlands Park, and more popular birding spots. These outings are usually organized through Meetup and announced through our other social media channels.

Lyonia Preserve Hikes

One of West Volusia Audubon’s initiatives is the Friends of Lyonia Preserve, a program dedicated to supporting the mission of the Lyonia Preserve and Environmental Center. LEC Staff and Friends group volunteers frequently lead hikes through Deltona’s Lyonia Preserve, one of the premier scrub-jay preserves in the state and a great birding area. These hikes are scheduled through the LEC’s Eventbrite page, and also are announced through our social media channels.
